ABout the Day

We are getting married in a small castle built in 1852, but reimagined with a contemporary interior. Our ceremony may or may not be outside in the garden, dependent on the lovely Scottish weather. The temperature in June is usually in the mid 60s (°F), but as the Scottish saying goes, "there's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes." In short, if you would like to explore the grounds around the castle, come prepared.

Our style for the wedding is inspired by the vintage-meets-modern castle venue and the summer solstice. We encourage our guests to dawn whatever they feel comfortable wearing, but you are more than welcome to add your touch of something vintage/British/midsummer inspired. For a simpler approach anything formal/semi-formal (suits, cocktail or long dresses or whatever else you like) will do just fine.

TRANSPORTATION

Getting to the castle:

The bus will make two runs to the castle from the Bruntsfield neighborhood in Edinburgh one departing at 10:30am and the other at 12:30pm. Pickup location will be at the edge of the park (Bruntsfield Links) on Bruntsfield Place between Whitehouse Loan and Leamington Terrace

Returning to Edinburgh:

Taxis have been booked to take you from Carlowrie Castle back to Edinburgh. Each Taxi seats 6 people and will depart the castle between midnight  - 1am.

The Wedding

our Story

Brett and Josie met in Raleigh, North Carolina, home to the renowned Chuck Norris kickball team. A chance meeting between Pocahontas and Mad Max on a Halloween night out in Raleigh kicked off their friendship. This was followed by a series of First Fridays, Mexican food meals, random skate boarding sessions, Beach Boys dance parties and annual Halloween parties at the Kingdom of Titus.

At some point they decided they didn't want to stop dancing or eating Mexican food together which brings us to where we are today. Since then Brett has learned all about figure skating, building fences and has acquired an appreciation for sushi, while Josie has improved her Photoshop and Illustrator skills, has learned that a toboggan can be a hat, and appreciates that BBQ is a delicious food, not an activity. They took a boat across the Atlantic with their two huskies Titus and Shasta and they now live in the land of Dolly the sheep, whiskey and tartans.
